Yedigöller National Park

Yedigöller National Park

Yedigöller National Park lies in the forested mountains of northern Bolu province, about 42 km north of the city of Bolu. It was declared a national park in 1965 and covers about 1,600 hectares. Its seven lakes formed when landslides blocked the valleys.

The lakes are Büyükgöl, Deringöl, Seringöl, Nazlıgöl, Sazlıgöl, İncegöl and Küçükgöl. Footpaths and small wooden bridges link them through beech, hornbeam, oak, fir and pine forest. The Kapankaya viewpoint looks down on the lakes. The park also has a protected deer area and a trout station. Red deer, roe deer, wild boar and brown bears live in the surrounding forest.

Leave the Ankara–İstanbul road at Yeniçağa and follow the signs. In winter, snow closes the road from Bolu; the route via Yeniçağa, Mengen and Yazıcık is used instead. The park has bungalows and a camping area. In autumn the paths are often wet and covered in leaves, so wear shoes with a good grip.
