Muğla
Butterfly Valley, Kelebekler Vadisi in Turkish, is a narrow coastal valley in the Fethiye district of Muğla, near Ölüdeniz. Steep cliffs enclose it on both sides, and it opens onto a beach. The valley is a first-degree natural protected area, and permanent buildings are not allowed.
The valley is named after its butterflies. More than 80 species have been recorded here, among them the Jersey tiger. They are easiest to see from June to September. A trail leads from the beach up the valley to a waterfall.
Most visitors arrive by boat from Ölüdeniz. A steep footpath on the Lycian Way also leads down from Faralya village above the valley. That descent is recommended for experienced hikers only, so visitors with limited mobility should take the boat. Bring water and sun protection in summer.
