Bolu
Lake Abant lies in the Abant Mountains in Mudurnu district, Bolu province, at an altitude of 1,328 m. It is about 33 km from Bolu city centre. The lake and its shores became a nature park in 1988 and a national park in June 2022.
The shoreline is about 7 km long, and a path lets visitors walk or cycle the whole way round. Wooded hills of 1,400 to 1,700 m rise around the water. The lake is home to the Abant trout, an endemic fish; sport fishing is allowed from the piers. The park has a visitor centre with a nature museum, picnic areas, cafés and restaurants.
The park is reached by a 22 km asphalt road that leaves the D-100 highway at the Ömerler junction. Istanbul is 258 km away and Ankara 225 km. Check current entry rules and fees with the park before you go.
