Düden Waterfalls

Düden Waterfalls

The Düden Waterfalls are two falls on the Düden River in Antalya. Lower Düden, also called Karpuzkaldıran, is in the Lara area, about 8 km from the city centre. Here the river drops about 40 m from the cliffs straight into the Mediterranean. Upper Düden, also known as the İskender (Alexander) Waterfall, is inland in the Kepez district, about 10 km from the centre.

At Lower Düden, a free public park runs along the cliff top, with walkways and picnic areas. Boat trips from the old harbour below Kaleiçi pass the falls from the sea. Upper Düden lies in a separate fenced park with an entrance fee. A natural cave path there leads behind the falling water.

City buses from the centre serve both parks. The cave path at Upper Düden is damp and slippery, so wear shoes with good grip. Check current opening hours of the Upper Düden park before you go.
